Midjourney Parameters Overview

These parameters customize Midjourney’s image generation. Add them to your prompt (e.g., /imagine prompt: [your text] --parameter value) to control composition, style, and quality. Current as of March 16, 2025, based on Version 6.1. Check official documentation for updates.

Basic Parameters

  • --ar or --aspect: Sets aspect ratio (width:height). Default 1:1. Examples: --ar 16:9, --ar 3:2.
  • --chaos or --c: Controls variation. Range: 0–100. Low (--chaos 10) is consistent; high (--chaos 75) is wild. Default 0.
  • --no: Excludes elements. Example: --no trees. Not always perfect.
  • --quality or --q: Adjusts detail/time. Options: 0.25 (fast), 0.5, 1 (default). Higher uses more GPU minutes.
  • --repeat: Runs prompt multiple times. Example: --repeat 5. Limited by subscription.
  • --seed: Sets noise pattern for consistency. Range: 0–4294967295. Example: --seed 1234.
  • --stop: Stops at a percentage (10–100). Example: --stop 50 for a half-finished look.

Aesthetic & Style Parameters

  • --style: Chooses model style. Examples: --style raw (realistic), --style 4c (V4 variant). Niji supports --style cute.
  • --stylize or --s: Adjusts artistic flair. Range: 0–1000. Low (--s 50) is literal; high (--s 750) is creative. Default 100.
  • --weird or --w: Adds quirky elements. Range: 0–3000. Example: --weird 500.
  • --tile: Creates seamless repeating patterns.

Version & Model Parameters

  • --v or --version: Selects algorithm version. Options: 1–6. Example: --v 6 for latest detail.
  • --niji: Uses anime-optimized model. Variants: --niji 5, --niji 6.

Reference & Weight Parameters

  • --sref: Uses a style reference image (add URL). Pair with --sw (0–1000). Example: --sref [URL] --sw 500.
  • --cref: Keeps character consistency with a reference image (add URL).
  • --iw: Sets image weight with image prompts. Range: 0–2. Example: --iw 1.5.

Speed & Efficiency Parameters

  • --fast: Speeds up generation, less detail.
  • --turbo: 4x faster (2x GPU cost). Experimental for V5+.
  • --relax: Slower, cost-efficient for unlimited plans.

Upscaling Parameters

  • --uplight: Lighter upscaler, smoother results.
  • --upbeta: Beta upscaler, minimal added detail.

Tips for Use

Add parameters at the end of your prompt (e.g., /imagine prompt: a futuristic city --ar 16:9 --v 6 --s 250). Combine them carefully. Experiment to see their effects.

Example: /imagine prompt: a cyberpunk street market --ar 3:2 --v 6 --s 500 --q 1 --chaos 30 creates a wide, detailed, slightly varied scene.
